ISA - International Stuttering Association

Highlights:

What is SCAC ?

  • SCAC is authorized to exist as a non-profit making charity devoted to fight for the protection of stutterers interests as per authorization
    N0 22/RDDA/BAPP in conformity with the law of the 19th of December 1990 governing associations in Cameroon.
  • SCAC is a full member of the ISA - INTERNATIONAL STUTTERING ASSOCIATION and the second association from Africa after that of South Africa to be admitted into this family.
  • SCAC’s meetings are held twice a month in each ward and on Sundays a day members are free from their daily occupations. Meetings last from 2 p.m to 6 p.m. Apart from this we also have informal events like death and birth celebrations concerning members that all the other members are also supposed to attend. Deliberation during SCAC’s meetings are conducted in pidgin English a kind of lingual franca that is mostly spoken by the ordinary man here in Cameroon or in the dialect in places where the population do not understand English or French the official languages of Cameroon.
