International Stuttering Awareness Day 2015 Online Conference
The International Stuttering Awareness Day Online Conference is underway, and runs until International Stuttering Awareness Day on October 22nd.
The theme is “Spread the Word through Education, Cooperation and Communication”.
- Education to children who stutter, people who stutter, families, friends, employers and employees;
- Cooperation with people across borders, countries and associations, encouraging appropriate therapies, research and setting up well-prepared self-help organizations; to improve
- Communication skills day by day, thus reducing the burden of stuttering to enable people who stutter to live and thrive as assets to their community and nation.
We welcome people who stutter (PWS), clinicians and students, family, friends, acquaintances, health professionals, teachers, police and anyone who has any links to PWS or children who stutter (CWS).
We especially welcome students. They are the clinicians of tomorrow. It is very important that they have lots of time reading the papers, looking at the videos, making comments and asking questions. This is an ideal opportunity — 22 days — to meet PWS from around the world via the Internet. Please also visit the Experts section and ask questions there as well.
Everyone is welcome to return to the conference as often as they like. Reading all the new questions and answers, browsing more papers / videos as well, is a very good way to learn about people who stutter. Once clinicians and students learn about us you are better placed to apply what the International Fluency Association endorses and calls the ABC (affect, behaviour, cognition) view of our stuttering disorder, if you are not doing so already.
Please spread the word about this 18th ISAD online conference and 18th ISAD to your family and friends. Put it on facebook and Twitter. Let the world hear about us and help to spread the awareness of stuttering to the four corners of the world.
Tell us about what you plan to do on October 22nd. Read what other people plan.
Let us all celebrate this conference and the 18th ISAD and let us spread awareness around the world and let us tackle the stigma of stuttering, which still remains in many countries, together.
Have fun and enjoy October with us. Tell the world.
